Training and support

EMS can provide wood and metal machine training. We can provide training on a range of machines for Supervisors, Experienced operators and novice learners.

This will include the safe operation of equipment and use of tooling to comply with PUWER regulations.
Regulation 9, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment (PUWER) Regulations require every employer to ensure that all employees who use work equipment have received suitable and sufficient training. Refresher training to be taken every 3 to 5 years to maintain personnel competency inline with current HSE guidance.

All of our training courses are tailored to the individual and/or business requirements and on completion certificates of competence will be issued in accordance with the types of training carried out.

Machine training

At EMS we offer fully certified machine training courses specifically designed for delivery within industrial and educational environments. Training will cover the below areas:
  • Correct and most suitable machine to carry out the job Setting and use of safety devices/guards/jigs
  • Correct selection and setting of tooling
  • Regulations and legal requirements
  • Safe setting and using of machine
  • Full practical assessment
Certificate of training will be produced on completion.

Abrasive wheels

Under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), it is a legal requirement for those involved in the use of abrasive wheels to be properly trained.

Our training courses will cover the below:

  • Hazards and risks arising from the use of abrasive wheels and the precautions to be taken
  • Safety in grinding machine operations
  • Wheel mounting procedures and issues
  • Correct dressing of abrasive wheels
  • Storing and transportation.
  • PPE requirements

Certificate of training will be produced on completion.

Portable power tools

EMS offer fully certified courses specifically designed to ensure that staff are correctly and safely trained in the use of Power Hand Tools, whether mains electrical, powered by battery or pneumatic systems. Our training courses will cover the below:
  • Hazards and risks arising from the use of Power Hand Tools and the precautions to be taken
  • Safe use and practices
  • Inspection of equipment
  • Correct and most suitable tool to carry out the job
  • Storing and transportation.
  • PPE requirements
Certificate of training will be produced on completion.

Manual handling

Manual handling is said to be the main causes of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace, accounting for over a third of workplace accidents.The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended in 2002) requires that all employers train their staff how to handle manuals correctly and safely, to prevent any risks of injury.

Manual handling training covers a wide range of activities including: lifting, pushing, pulling, holding, restraining, throwing and carrying. It includes repetitive tasks such as packing, assembling, cleaning and sorting, using hand-tools, operating machinery and equipment.

Certificate of training will be produced on completion.
